Sweet addition! Tough call but I'll say this one is G-6 and wonderfully original. Edit: Looking at some graded examples I can how a strong argument for VG-8 could be made.

I think it may make VG-8. Very nice!

I've seen similar pieces in VG8 holders and felt they were over-graded. I believe it's an honest G06.

I was thinking of G6 when I saw the photos.

Seeing how the price of this coin has skyrocketed since I bought it, whether it's G-6 or VG-8, I'm still smelling like a rose on this one. I do have it labeled as VG-8 though. I realize that's pushing the outside of the envelope. Probably more like G-7.

I think it has a good shot at VG-8.

The obverse is certainly a full VG8, with the reverse (judging from the pictures) a little bit lower. A net grade of good 6 or VG7 seems reasonable. Here for comparison, my VG8.

Sorry for the triple post. My internet connection is slow today and that maybe the reason. Is it possible to erase a post?

Quote: Is it possible to erase a post? There should be a small trash-can icon at the top of each post. Click that, enter your password and you should be able to delete you posts. Do it quickly because I think the option to delete or edit goes away after a few hours.

Thank you GERMANICVS, for the comparison. Nice coin. My quarter is a tick under yours. Is it graded by PCGS?

I'd say it's a solid G-6. Very original!

what an all original and problem free coin you picked up sir. I actually thought VG10 but I do not attempt to grade these that often as I have not handled a single bust quarter in my life, only the dimes and Half Dimes. I think the color and even appearance of the surface might even warrant a green bean.

jpbone, my example is in an Anacs slab. Capped Bust quarters (and dimes) of the larger, open collar type are among my favorites. Your example is quite appealing, with a nice, even and original colour.

That is a real beaut. Just the type of natural age and color I like on a problem free 19th century coin. And it's a super rare variety, congrats.
