Not a bad coin. Where did you get the roll from, may I ask?
What coins were in the roll? (Barbers, Franklins, mix?)

I got this in a mixed roll of silver halfs. a lot of them were worn bad, this was the best one. paid $160 for the roll, all 90% halfs. What would you grade this as? And is that a good price for a roll in your opinion?

Best not grade this coin, as I am a newbie .... But I love Barber half dollars.

Looks more like F-15 IMO. The hairline scratches are fairly obvious on the obverse but may not be severe enough to qualify as "cleaned". Certainly we have seen coins in problem-free slabs with worse hairline issues. The rim ding at 1:00 on the reverse is a slight distraction.

This piece would probably sell for at least $35-40 on ebay. I'd say you got a pretty good deal on the roll; 16X face value in today's retail market is cheap for US 90% silver. Congrats!

Thanks. The roll was mixed, with 3 barbers, 5 walkers, and the rest were bens. I bought it for the Bens, trying for lowball set. I have a friend who occasionally finds me deals through auctions. I was happy this time!

My first though was also F15. Can't make up my mind if this was cleaned or not, but at this price you can't go wrong .

I'm liking VF20 although F15 isn't out of the question with some small problem areas.
