SilentxBane, to the CCF!

One of the most important aspects to coin collecting is learning how to properly grade coins. Here is a link to PCGS Photograde to start you on learning to grade...

http://www.pcgs.com/Photograde/

Check it out and see what grade you think your cent is

No, not MS 63. XF or AU at best.

Check out the link Dave H posted. FYI it's a LWC=Lincoln Wheat cent. Did you check to see if it's an RPM?

Please explain what to look for to know that and also does that make the coin more rare? Like I said previously I am just now getting started in coin collecting.

Believe me you are not being a pest! I've been hanging out here for a little under a year now and I've learned volumes of things by simply reading posts and commenting when applicable.

For your pics, try to keep the image size of your file at 600x600 or so. I've been using files that are about 3 megs and then letting the forum's image optimizer take them down to the 100k requirement. I'm still messing with it too.

If you can, try to get a straight above shot of your coin so we can see all the area in proportion. If you get to the point where you want to take better pics like some of the pro's here, hang out on the photography section of the forum.

As for your cent, I agree with an EF/AU assessment based on the pics you have provided. It looks like an honestly worn and clean coin which is good for your collection save for the bit of reddish shmootz under 'Liberty'.

Just keep the question coming! I've never met friendlier people on a public forum than here more willing to help new collectors take steps in the right direction!

Not always. The most common indicator of an RPM is a notched/split serif.
