All I can afford is about a 1k bill usually..so for these double eagles I'm going to have to do a payment plan. At least I'm.able to pay it off. Grateful for that option.

I think they see the $3's and $4's as too uncommon for a regular collection. Only 10 out of 40+ $3 issues reached 10k mintage, and only one reached 100k. And Stellas, well, Dansco can't afford them either.

Very nice, I only have a few gold coins. What is the meaning of 7070?

Now, now, Dave, don't be too discouraging... ;-) Actually, there are a few dates (such as 1854 and 1878) that are very common (as far as $3 gold pieces go) and quite available in a variety of grades. Although, I strong recommend getting as strongly struck an example as you can find in the XF-AU arena. I'll totally agree with you on $4's, though...I ain't ever gettin' one of those!

Quote: What is the meaning of 7070? This is a Dansco coin album for a certain type set. They are hard to find because the company stopped making them. The set consists of U.S Major Coin Types starting at Half Cents too Modern U.S . Coinage. There is a Gold page you can add with U.S Gold.

The $10 Indian looks like a nice addition. Gold can be very challenging to collect. I'm quite fond of the stuff myself.

I have always given thought to collecting $10 Indians. The design is so attractive.

Quote: I don't know why my album doesn't have any holes for them Because the 7070 leaves out a lot of the tough pieces. It doesn't have any of the 18th century types and leaves out several of the early 18th century types. Notice on the gold page it has the Coronet Liberty and 20th century type but none of the types before the Coronet Libertys. And the $4 isn't there because it was a pattern not a coin.

Its fairly easy to find details grade $3 pieces for under $1000, but even problem $4 pieces go for a magnitude above that
