Well, roll was my first, er second, thought without even looking at die markers. It was late. But still, with what's presented I would buy em up for sure but anyone who knows me knows I'm bias towards all color bearing morgans Agree with all being 63 however first one can possibly go 64 PL ?

First coin looks MS-64 PL, the others MS-63. Original toning, as noted. A whole roll of these would be nice to have if you could get it for maybe $800-900. Did you buy them? If so, can I ask at what price? Nice photos too!

Only the top one presents the possibility of PL surfaces - the other two plainly have nice luster which precludes PL. The way I see light playing in the left field of the obverse keeps me from considering PL for it, but I'd be happily surprised and not shocked if I were wrong about it. Same goes for it as a 64 - the degree of chatter in the (primary eye appeal point) left obverse field along with the similar chatter on the cheek leans me away from it. I'm prepared to be wrong on both counts, especially knowing this to be an issue which isn't impossible in PL/DMPL.

Quote: if I'm reading the cracks right they're LDS VAM-1G's. Thanks! I had been wondering about VAMs, but there are so many listed on VAMworld for this issue, it was something of an overwhelming task. I'll take a look at that later and see if I agree with the coins in hand.

Jaobler, yes, I purchased them - they were cherry-picked them from a tray that allegedly all came from the same roll. The rest of the lot was mediocre - all in the low MS range, similar to these. The top coin pictured here was the only one with a shot at a PL designation, and these were the only three with significant color. Most of the roll showed slight peripheral amber toning (similar to the reverse of the 3rd coin above). This group of coins was being sold for $60/pc. That's a good bit more than I would have paid for the other coins of the lot, but with the current market for rainbow toners, I thought that was an excellent price for these three pieces in particular - low grade rainbow examples of this date seem to be going for ca. 2.5x that number on Heritage, from my brief research while considering the purchase. Though, as only a casual observer of the Morgan dollar market, I would absolutely welcome opinions on price/value!

Sometimes works, sometimes not. It worked this time because the crack through "trust" is unique and diagnostic and the clash location was a match. Yours have more extensive cracking than the list coins.

I know it's been a long, long while - but I did end up having these graded. NGC gave them the following:
62PL, 63, 62.

Thanks for the update on the grades.
There were way too many bag marks and scratches for these to score high grades. I think I originally stated 60 to 62 and I still feel that way today. Feel very fortunate that you got a 63 on one of the coins. Sounds like the appealing toning pushed that one over the threshold and it got the 63.
Very nice coins, no matter the grades. Congrats!

The first one looks MS64. The other two look MS 63.

westernsky, I agree, I was surprised at the 63 as well. For the record, my guesses before submitting them were 62pl, 62, and 61. Though, with the coin in hand, I do see the 63 - baggy though it may be, the strike is solid, and it's exceptionally lustrous.
Though they're certainly not terribly valuable, I'm very pleased with the coins, especially the matched pair of the 62 and 63.

All 3 definitely in the 62/63 range with first looking PL so I think NGC was spot on with those grades. I think any of them could make 63 on a good day.
