I'm between AU-55 to AU-58. Nice coin!

Looks like there is just a touch of rub on Liberty's head, breast, and right knee. Reverse rims/denticles are a bit weak but that seems entirely due to strike. Color is attractive and surfaces look original with minor contact marks. Seems very solid for AU-58 but not quite mint state IMO.

Thank you all for your opinions. You guys are very good, I must say. The ANACS grade is AU55.
Can this grade be considered accurate by current PCGS/NGC standards? I have read that the old ANACS small white slabs tend to be conservatively graded.

You can always send it in for a crossover.
If it won't cross at the same, or at a higher grade, then they won't bust it out.
(As always, all is contingent on whether there is any hidden damage, too.)

Thank you for the information, westernsky. I do intend to have some of my collection slabbed at some point- just need to find the time. PCGS are in Paris while NGC is in Münich. Will need to decide with is more convenient for me.

I'm pretty sure you can't cross-over ANACS slabs to NGC or PCGS, unless they changed that rule and I'm not aware of it.

You can definitely cross over ANACS to NGC or PCGS. I did some a few weeks back. I would go PCGS, most bang for your buck. I would it should cross over at AU-55 and maybe go up to the AU-58. Beautiful coin.

The question I have is, is it worth it removing coins from the old Anacs small white slabs and have them regrade at PCGS? Or, as I have read, these old holders are still valued for their conservative grading and as such there is not much to gain by a cross-over. I am very new to this slab thing, and the only slabbed coins I have are those that happened to be in slabs when I bought them.

If you send it in the slab I doubt very much that PCGS would upgrade it. If however you crack it out it seems likely to me you would get that AU-58. A risk obviously, and I'm not sure PCGS AU-58 would bring a much higher price than old ANACS 55 if you decide to sell someday. There is however a $200 price difference between the two grades on the PCGS price guide. Decisions, decisions......

I would keep this coin in it's current slab. I think the toning is a little too heavy and the circulation a little too strong to go any higher. Plus people do like to buy these older ANACS slabs.

Thank you for the helpful comments. I think I will keep this one in its current slab. They have the added benefit that they are small and easy to store!
