They just want other potential bidders to see all the bids and keep moving.

The guy has 52 bid retractions in the last 6 months. Bids stuff up and then retracts.Guess it's a game to him.By the time the listing ends he'll retract every one.

He's now bid it up to $3.00 plus $1.93 shipping. Well above the retail value.

Maybe he isn't going to be around when it closes and just wants to make sure he gets it?

He's inside of the final 12 hours, so he can't retract his bid anymore - right? If he was trying to drive everyone away so he could have it at .99, that ploy failed. So why is he still bidding like mad at $3.00? If nothing else, he's putting in way more work than the coin is worth...

People do funny things to make sure they get something, sometimes. This is probably one of those situations.

Why ebay doesn't just banish these people instantly is beyond me.
ebay needs to start cleaning house.

Well, to judge by the feedback number, he's far from a noob. Just his particular, albeit ridiculous, stategy, I'd say. He actually may be doing you a favor, weerdsteev - folks may see that number of bids & think this is one hot auction they need to get in on.

Frankly, this seems a bit excessive and points more toward something being wrong at his end.

ebay pages sometimes auto refresh. I've had issues with it doing so in the past and it can be extremely annoying.

Look at the time stamps, they are 5-15 seconds apart. Could he have walked away from the computer, but the page is auto refreshing in the background?

Maybe a message to him asking if he actually meant to do that? If he's sitting there purposely rebidding every 5-15 seconds he may have bigger problems.

The craziness continues: He paid for the item and left me THIS feedback:

Great seller/item.Well packed,delivery went smoothly;item #/packing slip helpful

...which is crazy, because I won't even ship it until tomorrow. For kicks, I'm going to check and see if he left me any DSRs...

My experience on ebay with these type of bidders is they always pay and complete there sales. You won't have any problems with this sale other than the confusion his bidding causes. It's almost like they want you to think they new what they were doing with there bidding.

I've posted this before, but...

With the mobile app it's not that clear that your bid has been accepted... I've found myself several times thinking I was being out bid and so pushing it up another 25c or so. Could be you found somebody who is even a slower learning than I am.

I LOVE it when bidders do that. I like bidding people up without intending to win the auction and if a bidder bids multiple times and then I come along I can bid them up to there absolute limit, its very fun and relieves stress.

Iv made asyn a LOT of money doing this and while doing it people probably think I know the guy.. I don't.
