I think it is real. On the real ones the rear hind leg closest to the rim is usually pretty weak from the die polishing along with the "E Pluribus Unum". It kind of fades into the coin. The surfaces look a little porous though. So if it is not real then it is a good fake. I am going with fine details for the scratches though.

Photos from the PCGS site: The horn looks strange on this one and there are some other red flags.

Thanks, IndianGoldEagle. This would appear to be a fake.

For a grade I give VF25/30 details.
As to authenticity? I'm not convinced it's real, the rear leg is just too strong, there appears to be a lamination on the buffalo that runs into the motto, this may cause the letter of the motto to run close to the buffalo's back, the line extending from the ground to the buffalo seems to be there (weakly, but there). That rear leg is just awfully strong to be correct on the 3 legged variety, I think this one needs authentication from an expert in hand.

Well not a lamination as I thought, coin is much easier to see with the with the new photos! Thanks, I like the looks of it better now, not convinced it's a fake, but the damage is not pretty. Definitely a detail scratched (is calling it nicely). Still I don't think most would buy this one without a TPG guarantee on it.

VF20 details---rim damage, scratches, etc. Submit to pcgs or ngc still worth a nice premium regardless.

I thought that the genuine ones have a moth eaten neck feature on the obverse. It doesn't appear to be present and the rear leg details seem really strong compared photo guide provided by IndianGoldEagle. I don't think this one is real given the photos that have been provided.

VF25 details. Leaning towards genuine. Tough one.
