That's a nice pile of gold. Gold is a bit depressed right now, so unless you could use the cash now, you may want to hang on to them.

You would also have to factor in ebay and paypal fees if you go that route. I was definitely not expecting to see those coins when I entered this thread. Very nice collection indeed! Personally, I would keep them, as you don't run into these coins that often. Would it be possible to get individual pics of these coins to increase the drool factor! :P

Nice coins! Unless you are in desperation mode for cash you should hang on to them....just like your grandfather did!
(I define "desperation" as avoiding foreclosure, avoiding repossession or extreme medical necessity! Desperation is not new bling, a new cell phone, trip to Europe or a new car!)

Those are some keepers!! If at all possible. Plus do not try to "clean" them to try and make them look better. And please don't touch the surfaces only handle by the edges. As have others have stated I would seek out someone to help you get them to PCGS or NGC this to also protect the coins.

what streg said. Dont clean them. Dont touch the surface.
You should probably put them in some kind of protective holder. I will let others weigh in on what is the best type holder for these, as I am not an expert in gold coins.
Very nice coins btw, and welcome!

Thanks guys. I'm gonna try to sell the coins now. Is there anyway to avoid the 10% ebay fee? There's a coin show near my house in long beach next week feb 4th. Do you think I could get more money there? I'm not sure what the etiquette is at coin shows I suppose I'm only allowed to sell to dealers? I guess at the least I can have them graded there so that I can sell em on ebay if I have too, that 10% fee feels like robbery though Thanks again

You are better off keeping them until gold goes back up.

If you want to sell the coins now, I would recommend the following:
Contact Great Collections as they will sell your coins in auction for a 10% auction fee. Great Collections will take your raw coins and send them to PCGS for grading. You will get a little discount using Great Collection on your grading fees. Great Collections is also in Southern California. The turn around time is about 6 to 8 weeks from the coin hand off to GC until you get your cash.
If you need cash now, then, take them to the up coming coin show in your area and get three or four bids from the coin dealers.
You can post individual photos of your coins in the CCF grading forum and the members can give you an opinion on the grade, so you will have some idea of the coin value and grade before selling.

and what beautiful coins your grandfather passed down to you. I understand you want to sell them and the upcoming coin show would be a great place to take them to get an idea what a dealer(s) would pay. Great Collections would be a great place to auction them once you have "dealer" value and are not in a hurry.

They're nice coins, but there's nothing scarce here. I think you'll get $3000 for them at a legitimate B&M coin store; half that if you sell to the gorilla with the "We Buy Gold" sign. A good store will pay you bullion minus and sell them at bullion plus.

They're keepers for long term savings, why sell them?
