Technical grade looks F12 or darn close. Maybe a recent scuff on the right wheat ear and a small ring ding at 3:00 obverse but nothing so obtrusive as to call it a details coin.

C'mon, look at that jaw and those wheat sheafs with 1/3rd net detail between them at best. Not even close to Fine.

Good to very good. Is that a rim bump at 3:00 o'clock on the obverse?

Right. Not sure that would detail it, pretty small.

Other opinions?

You need to take the date into account here. 1924-D Lincolns don't usually come well struck and that is taken into account when grading all the way down to VG or even lower. I could see a conservative grader going VG10. Here's a PCGS F15 from CoinFacts for comparison: 1924-D-Lincoln-Wheat-Cent.-Grade?

I think this could make VG-10.

BH1964 is correct, the Denver issues from the 20's were horrible....it almost cost the mint workers their jobs. Finding a well-struck 24D is tough, there are not many in existence.

Bill, you are right about the '24D typical strike, I agree, but I just can't get above VG-08.

Cheers.

Thanks everyone. Have found this an informative and helpful discussion. I bought this from an ebay seller I've always had good transactions with. He graded this conservatively as Good - but I was thinking (hoping) it could go at least VG.

That is a rim ding at 3:00, btw.
