Many of the later dates in the Seated Liberty dime series in XF are within you budget. The quarters are larger but more expensive - it would probably blow your whole budget. The Morgan dollars will be more available in your price range since there were so many of them minted. You should have no problem picking up a couple with some nice honest wear. The kind of coin that might have been used in a Saloon out west at the time.  - and hope you get a really good buy. I am hoping to attend some coin shows this coming year. I have only been to two in my life. After consolidating I will know more what I am after and have a cause to go on the hunt. However, while you are at the coin show, I will be at an antique glass insulator show  |

Im back! I bought a 1888 O Morgan dollar is XF for $22. $1 in junk silver for $14, 4 Indian Heads for $5, an 1939 S nickel for $2.50, and a roll of wheats for $2. Was this a good deal? I'm sorry that my phone won't post pics. |

Forgot to add that 1939 nickel, Indians, and wheats were all average circulated.

Great new additions! It sounds like you had a good time. I would say you did well. I like the O mint Morgans myself. A dollar of silver coin is .77 of an ounce. So it sounds like fair prices all around. For 40.00 I got a glass insulator that has a piece of wire embedded inside the glass - a very rare curiosity that could occur accidentally during manufacturing. I got to talk coins with other insulator collectors though |

For some people who have been at this a long time, the gems he got might not be something we need. But nonetheless the fun of the hobby is what gets the blood pumping, and he obviously made the choices he wanted. I know there was a time I was filling holes that having a number of coins vs. one pricier one was more fun to me. I worked first on filling holes and then (maybe) upgrading. I agree with Conder, for the most part, it was an average deal. On the Morgan and the 90% though I think you got a slightly better than average deal. $15 for a dollar of 90% face value is average and VF Morgans are usually about $25-28 around here (South east PA)

Go to VAMWorld.com and check out your 1888-O Morgan. Who knows? It may be a "Scarface", "Hot Lips" or "Shooting Star". If so, you doubled your $75 investment at the coin show. And... we would create a new VAMmer  |

Regardless of how much you paid, what they are worth, what some may or may not say, all that is really, REALLY, important is did you have a good time? Remember this is a hobby and is supposed to be fun.
