I really like it, I think it could go MS-64.

Is there some kind of re-punch going on with the "8"?

Cheers, Bill

Here are the results:

You-Vs.-PCGS:-1874-H-5-Cents

Most of you were spot on. To answer some questions:

1) Yes, that is a die crack at 1:00 on the reverse.
2) I don't think the 8 is repunched just looking at the high res pics I have, but I will take a closer look when I get home.

It's a pretty piece with a lot of character. I'm glad you like it. I was the person that you purchased it from at the Calgary Show :)

Yes, I purchased the coin, not knowing that. Then when I got home, I realized that I'd seen the same coin on ebay before and when I searched it up and found the seller I realized I got it from a CCF member.

Well that's just a beautiful coin zxccxz!

Perhaps we as CCF members should form a secret hand shake similar to masons.. that way you know when you're talking to a fellow member... hrmmm

Super Nice! Certainly has all the eye appeal one could hope to find. Observations/Questions
1. Please tell me that's not a scratch on the obverse from 'A' in GRATIA joining 'R' in REGINA and extending through 'G'
2. Can't tell about the 'H' mintmark, I'm assuming the lower right portion of the leg is NOT damaged, just can't see it due to part of the holder.
3. At 9 o'clock on reverse cannot determine if it's the beginning of a die crack or a what exactly.

Great coin

1. Not a scratch. Just a light die crack.
2. Its a combination of two things. Firstly the holder. Secondly, the bottom right corner is somewhat weakly struck or maybe it was just Struck Through Grease. In hand it is visible, but certainly less pronounced rhat the other devices of the coin.
3. No die crack here, just a slightly darker streak of toning.

The 1858 brockage is the first 5 cents I purchased, boy they are small coins, this is a really nice variety, I can see why there are so many 5 cent collectors.
