I agree the 8 also looks doubled, more so on the inside.

They're somewhat similar but if you twisted my arm, I'd say the rarest is hi/lo, then the strong R/L, then the weak R/L, as shown below

Great pictures canadian-varieties! I'm quickly learning that the varieties are what I'm most interested in. Appreciate the information but please, next time pick mine as the rarest

also, does your version of the "weak R/L" show doubling in the 8 like mine? Thanks.

Cool. I just looked at my 1887 and it also has the double 7. Charlton did not have all three varieties and so previously I had not realized it was a 7/7. This example of mine has a crazy looking planchet flaw on the obverse.

Here is the 1887 7/7 with the funky looking planchet claw on the obverse

nice coin, and no kidding on the planchet flaw. Not sure if I can see doubling though. Are you thinking it's like the 1st example canadian-varieties showed us?

Yes, the 1st example. That's right, with the lighting at an angle I saw a doubling at the base of the '7'. Unfortunately the coin is a VG and so it is faint. I tried to take a better picture but I am challenged with 5c coins using my digital microscope. Fortunately the planchet flaw is clearly visible.
