If this set was priced right, it would be a really good idea...
I agree, totally! I really dislike the duplicates from having to buy a clad and silver proof sets. It would mean me starting to collect proof ASE as well. I see no real downside, but the crazy price.

MNB is reporting a press release from the Mint today identifying items to be taken off sale at 12N EST on Weds, Dec. 30th. A side note made mention that the 2015 LESPS won't be issued at all because it contains a proof ASE. Currently looking for the press link.

They always contain proof ASE's, right? So why would that be a reason not to issue them?

The press release mentions that all products containing ASEs are coming off of sale on the 30th. Since the LESPS won't be issued by then, they decided to cancel the product altogether. Has something to do with the anniversary ASEs next year, and that's how the Mint interpreted the authorizing legislation for the edge lettered ASEs. Go figure.

Could you post a link to the press release? The 2015 W silver ASE is below 200k presently and could be a key W

The last press release I see is dated a week ago and has zip to do with ASE's

Edited to add: never mind...link posted in another thread

Here's a link specific to the LESPS being scratched. Not sure what the other link is you're referring to.

No tears here and may have to pick up one or two more ASEs.

The 2016 set is listed as TBD in the newly-released product schedule for 2016, so I guess the series isn't dead, tragically.

Maybe in this case it means "To Be Deleted"

Odd. Perhaps the calendar was put together before they decided to scratch the '15 LESPS... They could just sell the paper insert & COA by themselves so people could put together the '15 set from previous year sets to keep the continuity.

I hope not. The Reagan C&C set is TBD.

So I wonder what this will do to the value? Final sales figures will be under 45,000.

I would say that a product that was on sale for a year, never sold out and has decreasing sales (aka interest) over previous years and was not even issued this year would not be in high demand in the near future.

The 2013 and 2014 on the open market sell for original issue price (sometimes less) now....

That's the 2016 set. They just ended the 2014 set and the never released 2015 set. I bet they completely forgot they put the 2016 set on the schedule in the first place.
