I'll throw out a VF35 and concur with 52Raymo, it look real and it looks real good too.

XF-40. Don't be so critical, eric!
I'd use some verdicare on the obverse.

This is the type of coin that is strongly affected by market grading. Think a bit higher than your first impression.

i just go by what PCGS or NGC will grade it its a beautiful coin but the top grading services will point any problems out especially on a key date

i agree that key dates are usually graded a bit higher than other years. I don't think the small imperfections on this coin would keep it from a straight grade.

I'm at EF-40 as well. Three diamonds, full shield, textbook to me. Nice example.

VF-25 , Bad scratch on reverse .Too much all around wear for EF-40.Should get a straight grade. Oh yeah , Verdi-care both sides.

The reverse scratch will either details it or net-grade it down to a VF from an XF.

I'll say XF40. Don't think reverse scratch is bad enough to warrant details grade

I've purchased several IHC that had 3 to 3 1/2 diamond that were grade as EF 40 to 45 I don't know enough about copper coins to say problem free or not but I didn't notice anything other than a light scratch that I doubt would doom it to as details grade ... Another thing I'd like to mention is TPG tend to be a bit generous with these key date coins , so I'd bet you'd get a EF 40 grade on this coin :)
