Also any thoughts on what I should have paid for this one.
I am not saying how much I DID pay-yet.

I've seen mid AU cleaned FE go for approx. $150. Uncleaned $300-$350. So about a 50% drop in price.

When you're using the image optimizer, after you save your pic close it out and open another optimizer or the pics will continually get smaller. Don't know why it does that but it does.

Whizzed AU. Note the wear on the eagle's breast but lack of small scuffs in the fields. Low end XF value @ ~$90-100.

BigSilver - Notwithstanding all of the opinions expressed thus far (many of which are accurate), I think you have purchased an extraordinary example of the Flying Eagle cent. You haven't shared what you paid for it, so I really can't guess at whether you got "a deal" or not.

What can be said is that your coin is a stand-out example and provides a real quality of strike and even luster. I've always thought the FE Cent was one of the more beautiful of US designs, and you own a great example of the state of the art as it existed 158 years ago. I'm down to needing just about 10 IHCs to complete the set. Of course, all of the issues I lack are the most expensive ones. I don't have ANY example that is as nice as yours. Mine range from VG - F20.

You asked for opinions and that's one thing that is never in short supply here at CCF. For the most part, that's all they are. You're obviously proud of this addition to your collection (as I would be). It's a great coin. Congratulations. Jack

Yeah, I like it. Great strike ,but I can't understand all that wear on Eagles breast. Unless it is NOT WEAR. hmm
Probably lightly cleaned a long time ago. reverse photo is small but what my eyes see is impeccable . I cannot call this coin DETAILS in any way.
Just MHO .

LocalCoinGuy is correct. The fact that the fields have a few deeper 'ticks', but no small hairlines or scuffs, which would be much more prevalent, give away the whizzing. You'll see that characteristic on nearly all whizzed XF coins.

Can you get some better pics of the coin ? Maybe less light. I guarantee you if you slap this on ebay it will go for way more than 85 dollars.
