Yeah I just feel ikes are just a little too modern of a coin and that Franklin haves are so far removed that through seem almost like a classic coin now.

I just recently finished an all certified Franklin half set all ms63 and up. I feel franklins are underrated and more challenging. Ike's are a shorter set granted, but you have many different types especially the 1972 type 2 which isn't cheap

Give me the Frankie's any day over the Ike's . The Ike's are kind of boaring looking unless it's a PF-68,69 Silver issue, deep cameo .

It was a coin toss for me ..... I do like them both. The NGC slab with the Franklin label is very appealing to me.

I voted for Ike dollars because I have a PCGS registry set (see link below) AND because I like them a little more than Franklin halves. I actually spent Ikes as a child, so I have a personal connection to them. I have a Dansco Franklin set, and it contains a good mix of circulated, AU and BU/PF coins. Personally, I prefer a nice circulated Franklin half over blast white BU. I love that vintage, antique silver look they acquire from circulation. I think coin "snobbery" toward Ikes will continue for a long time, but I just don't get it. It is the perfect set for any collector, no matter what level you're at. It has a good mix of business strike clad and silver as well as proof clad and silver issues. If I were you I would do both sets. Doing both will open up more opportunity for fun. Buy a few Franklins and then switch to getting some Ikes- back and forth. It will keep things fresh and interesting.

Do them both. For what it is worth, I have both sets completed in Dansco albums (though not at the grade level you aspire). You should do the Eisenhower dollar set first. My obvious bias aside, which includes the fact that it was my first completed set, I feel it will be the easier set to assemble. Once done, then you can assemble the Franklin set. I do not think you will regret having both. Lots of fun ahead for you.

I vote both at the same time. I love the Franklins b/c all are silver and halves just appeal to me. I love the Ikes because of the design, size, and childhood memories. Both series I appreciate b/c of the great men they commemorate.
So I could not vote. YTou will likely enjoy whichever one you pick. They are both amazing series IMO.
