new pics are a little better. i'll take a shot at it at MS64. reverse looks 65 and has some PL qualities. not sure if obverse does or not and you need both sides for the designation. something is going on in the date not sure how this affects it

It looks like a very nice coin. 64+ From photos the coin appears to have a shot at PL. A lot of the 79P's have a PL obverse and a reverse that just misses PL.

These are the best I can get. The back I'm pretty sure would go 65PL... The front seems PL as well, but I am just getting frustrated trying to get the right light on the coin and lining the camera up. There is some chatter in the field on the obverse but not much.

Thanks for the added pics. Tough call. I'm guessing it makes 65 but not PL.

Need better pictures but seems to be in the MS-65 to MS-66 range, possibly PL. Cheek is remarkably clean.

MS-65, and it looks to me like it could be PL.

Cheek is clean, fields do have a bit of chatter on both sides. I'd be on the 63-64 fence and lean towards 64.

If this is in an old green holder I'd crack it out or send it to PCGS for reconsideration. Looks like a 65 to me.

It was just graded. The holder is green because it is the PCGSCOIN 30th anniversary green holder

I tend to agree with the MS63 grade. There seems to be a lot of chatter going on in the fields on both the obverse and reverse as well as slight scuffs on the cheek. Nice coin, but properly graded IMO. The PCGS MS65 Morgan dollars I have, have much less chatter on the obverse and none on the reverse.

Unless the lighting is hiding some defects, I would lean towards MS-64.

I appreciate the honest opinions. I can see how each assessment would make sense. The coin presents nicely and I had experiences in the past where some chatter and a small singular bag mark on the reverse didn't stop the coin from hitting 65. I know some of it is subjective and it's semi pl nature I thought would forgive the chatter. I love the coin, I just have to decide if I want to take the monetary hit to keep it, seeing as how I love how clean the cheek is

It is a very nice looking 63. From your photos it looks like a higher grade. There is some chatter in the fields, but the coin also looks semi PL that enhances field chatter.
