Coin Dealers Only Offer Me Gold Spot For 2008-W $10 1/4 Gold Proof Buffalo

Do NOT try to sell to a dealer. they will perpetuate this notion of these coins only are worth spot. Bull crap. I guarantee that if he was selling it, it would have an 1100.00 price tag on it. No, they cant pay you full value, but this spot thing is a huge load of steaming poop.

It is a 1000$ coin no matter what the dealer says.

You just have to find the right, honest dealer that needs it or sell it yourself online.

A 2008-W in PCGS PR70DCAM sold for $418 on ebay this month. There's no dealer bid on products like this. The Early Releases label means little in the industry in the aftermarket. The dealer will not get $1100 for the coin. The retail price being quoted on this thread and in periodicals is not in line with reality. Seldom is with modern coins.

silver is silver I guess. Also graded bullion is kind of a scam some think? So maybe that's what they thought. I read some were that most bullion coins are 69 or 70 and that a 68 would be a poor strike. So I can understand the grade not mattering to them but suprised not some premium for the coin aspect as apposed to a round. Do they pay spot for rounds to?

First off, pitch any price guide, really means nada with these modern coins.

Second, the true price of that coin and any other is going to be best determined by tracking auctions or auction data such as from ebay. Not for what they are selling for but what they actually went for at auction.

Thirdly, I wouldnt waste my time trying to sell anything to a dealer except straight up bullion rounds. Dont expect them to pay you a premium even if the coin, say a modern NCLT does command a premium which they do, depends on which one, how many etc etc.

In that case, it would be better to sell on ebay where you would get fair market value.

Hey look, dealers are in it to make a profit. I Would bet most would only pay spot then turn around and sell the coin for a premium if the coin warrants one, thats a no brainer. I cant say I can blame them for making a profit but that doesn't mean I Am just going to hand them the profit.

... just looked at ebay... this coin is going for more than spot. I rest my case. I agree tho, most dealers, 90%, if not more, are not going to pay you for that tho. But why do you need them? Sell here, sell on ebay,etc, some collector out there wants it and will buy it from you.
