I'm no numismatist so I am happy with my 2 Cents.... I don't want to be a 'real' numismatist this is just a hobby after all.

All in good fun, Richard. I hope I'm not coming off as "elitist". Actually, that would be hilarious as well as ironic considering how unlikable 3CN are to most collectors as a series.

"Okay, I need to come up with a saying, something like "Only real men collect 3CN" (but a little sexist), or ?"

Although it really pertains to tokens it could work for 3CN:

"The few, the proud, the superior."

I think you will be happiest with what interests you and what fits your budget. If you're budget is $20 a month, trying to collect a set of Standing Liberty quarters in Fine or above is going to be more than just a challenge, but a set of ASE's might be doable (at least till you hit the leaner years/mint marks) assuming the price of silver drops back to reality.

I think the survey and discussion also leaves out those who like to do type sets (one of each). And nobody has mentioned the 3 cent piece for some reason .

It seems none of you mainly collect Half Cents. I was told they were very popular, but it seems not. Though I'm only infering this from my survey which received only 43 votes.

I think this is the wrong board for stuff that EAC (Early American Copper) guys go after. I'm not knocking this board, but it's not aimed or known for attracting a lot of advanced collectors (yet, although I think this board is attracting a lot of folks, which is great!). EAC stuff like Half Cents are definitely in the advanced collector realm.

Yes, I agree with you with that Prethen, I will mremove that and replace it with gold coins, unfortunately I'm only able to list 15 choices, so its making the choices way to broad!

I voted copper small cents, but only because they were my first and that is where my passion started from.

You need one more choice on that list ALL OF THEM!!

I prefer oddities and varieties myself, but since most I have, are copper cents, I voted for that category.
