After mint strike trauma I believe. The added coin had me scratching for an extra second or two. Thanks, Doug.

Personally, if I have an "error," that's not an error, I would never spend it. Just increases the chance of it ending up on ebay and someone getting ripped off. I'd hang on to it for reference or trash it.

Even if you wanted to spend it, most retail establishments will not accept mutilated coinage or currency.

It. It looks so fake it's cool. Still cannot get the weight thing out of my thoughts. I guess I'm an
Over thinker and an under graduate. This forum is very helpful. Thanks again.

If you do decide to spend it take it to a bank. That way it won't get circulated again.

If you notice the coin appears to have reeds all the way around, especially noticeable in the flattened area at 5:00 on the reverse. In order to have gotten the reeded edge it would have had to have been struck in the ROUND collar. So whatever caused the flattening and making it oval would have had to have happened post strike. Thus PSD.

The weight is normal. No metal has been removed from the coin, it was just smashed.
