1914-D 1942/1

I have a 1914 D that was graded XF40 by USCG. Yours looks close, a little more wear in the hair and wheat stalks, but I'm by no means an expert. I paid $325 for mine. the 1942/1 I can't realy see the overdate in your pics, and I don't have one (yet), but as others have said, if your thinking of selling, slab, my opinion.

Ack USCG is the United States Coast Guard not a reputable coin grading firm. I would seriously have that thing checked by someone knowledgeable to see if it is even authentic. The quick and easy check is just looking at the base of Lincoln's bust- if the VDB initials are there, it is an altered 1944D. They can be more deceptive and harder to detect than that though. $325 is alot of money to spend for a potential counterfeit(not to mention almost certainly overgraded) in a basement slab.

For me, simple answer, simple rule for key dates: keep it raw, sell it slabbed.


Sort of what I was trying to say but a much shorter and better statement.

From what I see the 14-D is real and probably a VG-F coin. (JohnAP, that should tell you something about the grade on yours. If it looks similar to the one posted here it isn't anywhere close to an XF.)

Can't see the dime clearly enough to judge anything.

I agree with Condor101, VG level. Get em slabbed. When your ready to sell, PCGS or NGC will fetch you the most $$ especially on key dates.
