Thanks Coop. Can you tell if it is grease or not? Being more desirable, would this one be worth grading with the smudge?

Also, being new to collecting, are EDS or LDS a big deal? Is one more desirable?

Nice find and great pics. The EDS is more desireable because it is the first state the die was in, so the devices and fields look the best out of any other die state

To do anything with it would probably drop the grade (If they would grade it/call it genuine with no grade/PCGS would do this) probably two levels below the BU grading. It is BU now, why take the drop in value doing anything with it? (still mint state)

Very True Coop, I do love it the way it is and I think it looks amazing. I always just feel like getting these graded protects them more.

Update, this puppy came back the Top Pop at PCGS with a MS 67. Here she is slabbed! It looks very very nice in hand and I wish I had a better Camera to show you online. Thank you Coop for advising me to leaving it alone.

I had noticed that a lot of the other ones I have seen showed a very weak area between the O in One and P in Pluribus.

It has nothing to do with grease. That area of the coin is opposite the point of highest relief- the shoulder. During striking, the metal tends to flow into the deepest recesses of the die but that can often cause a lack of detail on the opposite side of the coin if it does not receive a full strong strike.

Gotcha, so this would be a strong Strike and that mark is unrelated. Thank you, I learn so much from all of you.
