I always thought the blanking and stamping operations occurred in the same facility -- the US Mint.

That process is done at the Mints for the other denominations. Plated cent planchets are supplied by Jarden Zinc in ready-to-strike form.

Shouldn't the TPG's be giving credit to Jarden Zinc for clipped-planchets?

Instead of being a "mint error", it should probably be changed to "Jarden Zinc/Mint error" instead eh?

Maybe some will be the super rare "auto(car)-struck" variety.

I hope Jarden gets a big bill for this mishap.

Would Jarden get the bill, or the trucking firm? (They may or may not be the same company)

Since they are contracted supplier of the government they may well get a penalty for late delivery of the blank planchets. Would have to see the terms of the contract to know for sure.

They should just void the Jarden contract. Quit making cents.

One would assume they have insurance for such things as issues in transit.

And hey, on the plus side, there could be several million fewer cents in circulation.

Hmmm....that gets me thinking... do I smell the work of an anti-cent saboteur?!

Why are you looking at me? I have a rock-solid alibi.

This cent blank from the Delaware Truck Crash Hoard grades MS69. There are some hits from when it hit the pavement, but otherwise a 70.
