Thanks for the kind words, all!

@jbuck- Ikes are a favorite of ours. I bought him a few for $1.50 at a coin shop, and we were lucky to get 3 of them from a teller in the summer too.
Rest in Peace

Thank you for sharing this story Dad! I bet he was excited.
How old is son? My son always enjoyed coming to coin shows when he was young.

Hi Debrajc,
He's 8 years old. Perfect age to get excited about history (including coins) :)

Great job Dad!
The father / son time he is experiencing will be remembered a lifetime.
And 8 years old is a perfect time for him to discover something he could enjoy for the rest of his life.

I still have a few coins and a letter from Gramdpa. Letter dated 1967, coin 1882, the year his parents came to America.

Thanks for the kind words everyone!

It is amazing to see his interest grow, all starting from wanting to see my little box of coins I kept as a kid/teenager (handful of wheats, some bicentennial quarters, a few silver quarters/dimes, and the obligatory State Quarter set). He's more than surpassed my little collection
