Nice surfaces, but I'd say XF-45.

I was looking at the strength of the motto, especially WE.

The rim bumps on the reverse could hold the grade to 45 but if they are overlooked then AU50. I agree there's a touch of verdigris that needs attention.

Thanks all! I was on the fence between EF-45 and AU-50, but Bill Fivaz told me that if WE is bold, then it is an AU coin. But the lack of luster is indicative of an EF coin. So, as I said, I was on the fence.

It's a great coin for sure, but when you look at its flat-brown surfaces, do you really think "about uncirculated"?

Nope. My first thought was EF. Then I compared to photograde and remembered what Bill Fivaz told me.

Way too much wear for AU. XF-40, tops.

you cant just grade a 2-cent piece by "WE" you have to look at the overall coin as well as other high spots as each coin can have different wear. there is not one bit of luster left on this coin. the rims have pretty good wear on them and of the high points on leaves, arrows and shield have moderate wear. none of these points to an AU coin IMO.
