The seller did respond to my inquiries about the ASE. The response indicated that he was just the middleman on the transaction and was just following the instructions of the friend for whom he is listing coins. The fact that I mentioned there were inaccuracies in the coin's listing (e.g., unavailability of mintage figures for the coin) and that it is basically worth $25 did not have much of an impact -- other than to get the listing price lowered by $200. It would appear the seller and his friend are going to fish a bit longer with this particular coin.

Very sad .. I see people that really think they have something of value. Sometimes it is hard to convince them they do not. Even if the seller says he is a middle man .. it is his reputation. Or .. as being said..someone is just looking for a sucker .. I have heard there is one born every minute ..

Actually, there is an error, but it is on the label not the coin. The $2295 coin has a label that claims the coins were struck at the Philadelphia mint and the $25 coin does not specify a location.

Nice pick up on that label thing....probably an early version that was corrected after it was found.
..and...it's always "I have a friend"....guaranteed...there is no "friend". He's just trolling for some unsuspecting buyer but the good thing is it would have did better if listed at $250...usually the two grand crowd knows what they are doing.
I bet it will show again at a MUCH lower price....

I am actually having a little fun with this situation.
Apparently, according to the Seller, the reason why other similar coins have sold for as little as $22.50, and this coin is worth so much more, is because it has been sitting in a safe for 30 years. THAT'S RIGHT FRIENDS! This coin was struck more than 30 years ago, dated 2001. Imagine if they had submitted it to PCGS back then? But now, it's worth twenty bucks. Talk about missing the boat.

1750? So much for the decimal point theory.

This guy told me he sold the 2 Grant Wood gold medals for $2500, which is a tad under melt, and nets him a lot under melt.
I tried to figure out how he thinks this silver dollar is so valuable, but he won't really engage on the topic -- just talks about the "friends" and their grandparents estate.
Weird situation.
