Yes, needs to be graded due to its rarity. Probably at least a $2000 coin on ebay. Plus due to ebay rules, if you sell, you technically need to have it graded.

Also, please go to a local coin shop and buy a holder with the foam ring, please get it out of that cardboard flap. Handle this thing as if its a baby.

I would send it in for grading. If you have access to a good coin shop, I would see if they could submit it to NGC. If not, the easiest is sending it to ANACS. Also, if I had this coin in hand I would go to VAM World online and see if I could verify some die markers.

Thanks for the replies. GR58, do the picts indicate any potential die markers? Thanks in advance.

I am not that good at VAMing ... You might do better posting pictures in the VAM section here on CCF. They might want better pictures .. out of the holder.

Date position looks good and mm looks like VAM 1 position. We need a super closeup pic of the R & T in liberty to confirm but I'm afraid dirt in the letters might be hiding the markers

I see a nice G-VG details piece here, once cleaned. Is it worth slabbing? Definitely.

Quite a find! Yes I agree with the other recommendations that this coin needs to be sent in for grading.

Hey guys I'll post additional picts this weekend, in the meantime, approximately how much does it cost to send in for grading?

The nominal grading fee at PCGS and NGC is around $35 for a coin like this, but with insured Registered mail both ways and the handling fee that the grading services add, you'll probably spend close to $100 total. It's still well worth it if the coin is slabbed as genuine since buyers will be much more willing to pay for a certified/graded coin.
I'd guess your coin has Very Good detail. The glossy surfaces suggest the coin has been cleaned which will hurt the value some. The grading service will note "cleaned" on the label if they decide that is the case.

It's got a good chance at getting straight graded imo.

Congratulations. It's rare to find a really rare coin, and you've done it. Definitely submit to TPG. You can do that yourself to NGC.

Looks G6 to me I don't see any issues other than possibly color which could lead to a details grade. Good chance it comes back clean.
