Some times when you are 'researching' you need a clue, the magic word that unlocks the information. Here it is 'Love Token Coin'. Search for that and you'll find a ton of info, including the Love Token Society: http://lovetokensociety.com/history/love-tokens/ and half a dozen nice articles on the first page of search results.

BUT, if you didn't know to search for love tokens... bupkis... Enjoy!

This ...to me .. would fall into the Love Token collectables.

To the right person you might get more than melt.
A dealer in bullion would give you less than it's melt value.

You might get $150-$160 if you can find a love token collector interested in gold.

But you won't find too many of those collectors, although they certainly exist.

Expect $120 from a pawn shop or maybe $10 more from a coin shop.

Probably on the low end since, minus the loop, it must be underweight by this point for sure.

Can't make out the full inscription, but seems to be a prayer of some sort, ending with "Amen".

Lord's prayer as a guess. I think I can make out the middle piece.

Gold love tokens are rather rare, since it was a huge sum of money then. Most love token collectors prefer an artistically engraved one with identifiable initials, even better with names and dates.

I agree!

Really nice love token by the way.

Looks like the Lord's Prayer. I have a picture of a 1922 no D with the reverse re-engraved with the Lord's prayer.

Go ahead and clean it. Use liquid dish detergent and a toothbrush.
