The new images don't have the lacquered appearance so thanks for confirming that. It's likely a cleaned AU++ piece but could be MS details. I'd give it a shot at ANACS or get ahold of BadThad and see if he'd look at it for you. Don't use a SASE, ship it in a padded mailer. Any way you dice it $55 sounds like a deal to me. It might have looked like this a few years ago: https://coins.ha.com/itm/lincoln-ce...Lot=1x=0&y=0

I agree that the color is slightly off . I do not see any circulation wear. the coin is uncirculated IMHO . If sent in , I'm sure you would get it back with questionable color .

If the red is true, it should have cartwheel luster which I'm not seeing. The coin appears to be quite flat which is indicative of a cleaning. I would call it a light cleaning and for $55, it seems the dealer thinks so too.

The depression completely around the mint mark is not normal.

i know him quite well, and we have a great relationship. I am happy with the price I paid considering that a similar ANACS certified MS60 details coin sold on ebay for $110.

No offense intended, but dealers, like magicians, don't share their secrets with their customers. Indeed the price is a bargain and congrats.

One more picture request. Are the edges of the rim dark?

Believe this is an UNC coin, but was brown....and has been helped to this color.

Still not a bad coin. Place on a window sill, turn over every week.

Probably right. It's still raw and still being handled by its edges. Price says all.

A high-grade certified example for comparison.

It's kinda scary, isn't it.
