The value isn't so much for the poor beat coin, but more so for the history of where it came from.

At the very least you can honestly tell anyone that you own treasure found at sea.

I asked if he would take $30 and he did. I plan on giving it to my nephew. Now I need another one for my other nephew. Anyone selling? They would go crazy over a coin like this.

$30 is a very good price for that coin.

I have seen them trading much higher lately.

Unslabbed and more than triple the price, but comes from the same shipwreck:

Very nice! I own one like this in a NGC slab I picked up for cheap also. I actually put it in a small shadowbox alongside the paper with the story on it. Just an idea for you, only downside is you cant see the reverse without taking it out but it looks awesome

Thanks for all the clutch help guys! I just searched and I will be lucky to find one selling for $70. I don't think the pawn shop had any idea of the value. They probably paid someone a measly $15 for it.

Slamnbass: This one came with the following wooden box. Did yours come with one also?

I also have a similar shipwreck coin, but from the Admiral Gardner, which sunk on January 25 1809 and the coin is a British East India Company 10 Cash coin, dated 1808.
