Thank you for the welcome and your input everyone! I was just checking the PSGS website and it looks like their generation 6 holder seen here http://www.PCGS.com/holders/Gen6.0However the "Quick response code matrix" is whats missing. It should be on the reverse side where the blank space is on the label. The under side of the slab is stamped "PRDSSDP" and I don't know what that means. The coin itself is quite beautiful and has lots of cartwheel luster.

I would wait for PCGS slab pros to weigh in and I would be just as concerned as you are. Can you post a link to the sellers store?

That's a big company. It's highly unlikely that Liberty Coin would be slabbing coins in fake PCGS holders. However the missing 'QR code' on the slab is a great question. Give this thread 24 hours so that slab experts can chime in.

I do see the concern but, if the slab were fake, why go through the trouble of recreating every other detail and totally forget about the huge, easily created QR code? It's definitely interesting. Also, a for making a Morgan dollar your first purchase.

Can you contact PCGS about the missing code? Maybe your error slab is worth more then the coin? John1

The coin is fine. For some reason the QR Code did not print on the label and a quick call to PCGS should put your mind at ease. They might want to see these images also. Cheers.

Liberty coin is a very reputable outfit. If there is an issue with the slab I'm sure they would take care of it

The coin looks fine to me. Congrats on your first purchase! QR Code was probably a labeling issue, I wouldn't sweat it.

That's a beautiful coin, and very legitimate. Congrats on your first purchase, it's a great start! Stick around here for a few months and you'll learn tons about this great hobby. Welcome!
Edit: there's multiple different generations of PCGS slabs, this one's real too.

I got a 2015 Marshals silver commemorative in the mail today that is also missing the QR code on the label. I wonder if they quietly dropped it because most QR readers can also read the bar code on the front.

Thanks everyone for your input. I think I'm satisfied now that the coin/holder is genuine based on what everyone has said. Like I said it's a nice looking coin but I just wanted to get the opinion of more experienced collectors. I think Morgan dollars far surpass the design of any of our modern day coins and they can be had for a relatively low price and in good condition too. Also the size and weight is impressive. This coin is about 138 years old and even though its spent most of that time sitting in a vault somewhere it is a direct link to the past. I think that's pretty cool!

That's why we love this hobby so much! We get to hold, own, and collect these beautiful pieces of history. Like I said earlier, we'd love to see you stick around. A few months of browsing here is like a whole friggin' course in numismatics!

I've learned a tremendous amount for free and am always learning more. About the QR codes, it does make sense that they would drop them. They were new and "cool" for a while but, it seems most companies have abandoned them for any useful purpose.
