1930 all day, especially if it's cheaper!

Surprised you even had to ask us . The 1930 is hands down the better coin . Sharpen up on your eye appeal .

IMO unless you have financial restrictions ignore all coins graded in the MS-60 to -62 range.
In fact an AU-58 coin often exceeds the appearance of an MS-63 coin
The -58 generally has only minor rubs on the high points otherwise is could have been an MS-64 or higher.
A -58 generally has what's known as "cabinet friction" and is called a "slider".

I think from this you can guess which coin I would recommend.

Definitely the 1930 - the 27 may be technically superior but the eye appeal is terrible. IMHO

Good for you. I think eye appeal is very important, and 1930 looks better!

Buy the coin, not the slab.

1930

Many years ago I knew a dealer who specialized in AU "slider" coins. He told me that these were the best coins to buy: they looked BU in so many cases and came at a fraction of the cost.

My vote also goes to the one from 1930.

Personally, I would skip both of these and look for an original coin that has a full head (FH).

Valid point there, Aron.

Buy a nice original FH with a
strong strike on the shield rivots.

There are many who appreciate the visual appeal of the 1930 Standing Liberty quarter over the other one...and you can count me among them.

Something to take into consideration is readily available funds to strive for a FH version.

The OP question was between these two...

Yeah, if money was no issue I'd consider a FH. However, after getting a draped bust dollar, flowing hair half, draped bust half, and upgrading a few others let's just say the coffers are dry. And I personally wanted a high end, beautiful coin to replace my F12 Standing Liberty quarter. So this is quite the upgrade.
