Submit a roll of ASE, 70% come back MS-70. Most of the rest come back 69. Anyone that pays a premium for the rejects is a fool.

Sell them on ebay. Even common date MS69's will bring $27 to $30 each. If you have better dates like an 86, or some in the mid 90's, those will bring $45 up. 96's will bring $100

You mentioned 1996...I have had a roll of those for a long time and previously considered sending them for grading...but...my aversion to grading bullion took over and held.

That dealer is clearly out of touch with reality. Just go to another shop that will buy them in the slab. That said, dont be surprised that MOST coin shops will say they will only give you spot for the coins in the slab.

So as was mentioned, sell them yourself. Try here and ebay where you can collect with collectors who enjoy collecting and will pay the premium for slabbed bullion coins.

Impossible to check a slabbed bullion coin for weight or investigate with XRF - an instrument which most bullion dealers would have.

If you don't want to crack them out, keep them, or ebay them.

Because bullion coins never circulate, they are not subject to wear, as circulation coins are.
It follows that there is little difference in value in EF to low MS grades. Only worth slabbing bullion coins if they are in MS65 and above grades, where the slabbing and shipping fees are justified.

If I was a bullion dealer, I wouldn't want to destroy your slabs, either. You have paid good money for the slabbing and shipping fees, which are of zero interest to a bullion dealer. Impossible for him to make a profit on the fees.

MS65?....how about not profitable even if you get 70's

Makes zero sense to grade ANY recent bullion ASE...

I am against buying any graded silver bullion personally, if that is what makes other happy, I totally respect that. I dont like buying graded silver bullion because-

1- risk of milk spots is too high and once that MS70 gets a milk spot, you will NOT get MS70 prices when you go to sell

Silver proofs, I think you can do but only proof 69s, as many times at auction you can get a 69 grade for less than say OGP on the coin, so you really dont lose much and you get a nice holder.

gold bullion, I think carries the risk of say brown spots but to me, thats not a big massive risk like milk spots on silver. That said, I prefer gold bullion graded at MS69, at auctions from reputable dealers you can get them for LESS than the Buy it Now price and again you get a nice holder for your coin.

PLUS, maybe its just me, but there is nothing better than a 1 oz gold coin or half ounce sitting in a slab, love it!! So impressive looking!

@999fine

well yes that too, I have a ton of 1 oz gold eagles, proofs, and its nice to have it in your hand in its capsule. Or proof 1 oz Buffs.

However, maybe its my OCD lol but I started getting MS69 slabbed gold 1 oz, 1/2 gold coins and its like WOW, something about the holder, the slab itself, brings more attention to a 1 oz or half ounce gold coin compared it to being just in a capsule.

*takes one of each, in each hand* yup, the slab just makes the gold 1 oz coin just even more impressive lol

but hey, whatever makes one happy, thats what is important!

I have gotten to where I won't buy a coin online if it is not slabbed. From dealers I will buy slabbed or unslabbed, but for the same price I will buy the slabbed coin. I don't know where your dealer is coming from and I would hold onto those coins for the long haul. When you attempt to flip a coin via a dealer expect to get maybe 50% of what you paid for the coin. This has been my experience. If you buy them close to retail and then sell them back at wholesale that is not good depending on the price you got them for unless at a deep discount.
