I think this deserves a specific name. How about the Funky Monkey?

Now this one qualifies for the latter category of

Hey all, thanks for the replies! I had a good laugh this morning reviewing the comments. I will work on getting a few pics of the "caterpillar/funkey monkey" forehead when I get off work tonight. I had to take a break from my coin searching last night, as my girlfriend made it clear that it was not a good idea to pay more attention to "old dirty pennies" than to her haha.. As far as what I use for close ups, I am just using my cell phone with a couple different loops attached over the rear lens. I also got in trouble for that, because I was using one of her hair tie rubber band thingies to hold the loop to my phone

Your coin is listed in the 1969 edition of "THE CLASSIFICATION AND VALUE OF ERRORS ON THE Lincoln Cent" by Jean Cohen. This 1957-D Cent is listed under "R-DATED" as 57D-R106 "R date. Diecrack on forehead. Mound of medal connects 9, 5, and mintmark.". You can find it on page 121.

JC that is really interesting information. I am going to have to pick up that book. Do you all think this coin should be listed on Cuds on Coins? I checked the site and did not see it listed. I could be wrong as I did not look through the site indepth. My LCS usually has a nice supply of lightly searched wheat cents and my nephew and I go through about a thousand cents a week looking for varieties. We don't find key dates obviously but we seem to have nice luck with varieties and errors. We find lots of BIE errors, and small die chips around the dates. This coin just stood out, so we figured we would get some feedback from the more educated folks here on the forum. This forum has been a huge help with building our depth of knowledge. Thank you all for the help and input

The book is very hard to find and in the $75-$100 range if you do find one. If you are an ANA member you can check it out from their Library.
If you email me images of the full obverse, reverse and a close image of the date/mm I'll list it as a IDB. Follow the email instructions in this link.

JC thank you for the new listings of the coin on your site (RIDB-1c-1957D-15 & IDB-1c-1957D-02). My nephew is going to be on cloud 9 when I show him the listing. He loves your site and I am sure the coin we find a special spot in his collection!
