Go for the gold! Doesn't look bad at all to me.

If I had eight hundred dollars, I would not be able to buy either coin because the conversion from U.S. to Canadian dollars sucks.

But if I had eight hundred U.S. dollars, and I had to buy one of those two coins, I would go for the gold one since it is the only one that ships to Canada.

But if they both shipped to Canada, I would still go for the gold one. I mean, I would much rather spend that money on other things, but that does not seem to be an option.

Without looking at them, if I HAD to buy one, I'd go with the Morgan. Morgans don't really interest me, but don't like gold.

Cleaned? No thanks.

I'd rather keep the cash.

I would have to know why your wanting either of these coins.

- To fill a hole for a Morgan set.
- To fill a hole in a type set.

Or are you just trying to acquire some coins that may increase in value
in the future.

A problem free 1895 O Morgan in AU 58 can sell for a lot more than $800.
But ... AU cleaned coins in this date seem to be more common and sell
in that range .. or less.

I don't think either of these coins have that much of a chance of making
any big increases in value in the near future. Maybe the gold coin if
there is a big spike in the price of gold.

As for your question .. if I had to buy one .. it would be the gold.

If I had a choice of holding the $800 ... I would .. and wait for a better coin
to come along.

I would rather own this one 232462686279 in XF45 than a cleaned BU details coin and have the extra money personally.... even if the cleaned one was at the same price.

I'm not in the market for either of them. If the gold was trading at $700 it would be a better than average bullion coin though. The Morgan interests me more. Looking at sold listings, there is no lack of bidders for 1895-O's. Though this one is overpriced it is a desirable collector's coin. The scarcer same-date eagle is not...and likely never will be...

Nothing has changed here. I would still rather have two Seated dollars for the 7070.

Well after 35 posts it stands at 13 votes for the gold and 1 for the dollar and 21 not voting.

Neither. The $1 isn't attractive to me, the $10 is overpriced.

There are so many great coins you can get for $800. You could get not one, but two nice Seated dollars. You could get an 1853-O no arrows Half Dime. You could get an 1867 dime in great condition. You could get a quarter eagle date that is actually scarce. You could go British and get my British dream coin, a 1765 threepence with less than 20 known. Really just give me the cash, there's better ways to spend it than on these two coins.
