I'm not big on toned coins, but that thing looks gorgeous.

Lovely ASE if you enjoy toning ... and many indeed do. I have limited experience with the modern coin market ... wondering if the PCGS MS 68 grade is an issue .... my recall is that 69 or 70is where the money is if one is looking to sell. Appears from your posts you intend to sell this coin and use the agreed fabulous obverse toning as an advantage. Best of wishes with that.
Take a look at my other hobby ... http://www.jk-dk.art

Do you really think that someone would pay $300 for it?

To the right buyer, yes.

It is a pretty coin, but I'm having a hard time undetstanding why people are willing to pay so much for something that appatently can be created artificially with minimal effort and a little time.

Love the color. Get it slabbed for sure, and get a few hundred.

I always pick up AT and NT coins as much as I can. The market is through the roof for them, who would have ever guessed...?

Because there is no guarantee surefire way to achieve this kind of color. I had another eagle right next to it that toned very little. It's a crapshoot that can turn out bad or nothing at all but very rarely you get a stunner like this

I have a question about this. Never mind, I'll start a new thread.

Quote: Do you really think that someone would pay $300 for it? At a minimum. In fact, I can probably get closer to $500 +/- if I want to be patient and wait for the right buyer. Which I probably will do. I don't really want to sell it for only $300.

It is not like you really need the money right this minute. Patience pays.
