Now if your small date 82 D weighs 3.1 grams you have a winner.

I'll have to go buy a dope scale and weigh it. What's the significance of 3.1g?

If it weighs approximately 3.1 grams, it is likely a copper planchet. I believe there has only been one copper 82D small date found. It would be worth thousands of dollars. I would gladly give you your original asking price at that time.

Edited to add "likely"

For humors sake, I did a test and it appears the large date is heavier. No diamond in the rough here! Still up for bid @ $0.02! HAHA

So, is this a large date or small date? It has some damage to the edge, makes it hard for me to tell.

It weighs 3.1, so it's likely not small.

Better photo of penny in question. Has rim damage and the 2 looks strange IMO. Thoughts?

Large date, easy to see once you get used to it.

Large top, small bottom:

I thought so. The '2' threw me off. It looks small to me. Thank you!
