You might have clicked on a 1939 D instead.

True, but even a 1939 D wouldn't yield 60-80 in VF, yet alone any Jefferson nickel.

Unless it was a 1939 DDR, which this is not.

Well...thanks for the plethora of information. I didn't know that those figures were that far off. Can you name a valuable site that you get values from?

I bet Coinhuntingdrew will gladly sell you 39's for .35 (A DEAL!) to you real quick! Gonna bite?...yea, didn't think so. Value figures are ALWAYS arbitrary, even the sold prices have bilked millions of Mr. Bucks for the unwitted, er unknowledgable buyers on ebay.

Dude, I'm just now getting into other coins. My research has been on Lincoln pennies so get off my case with your snide remarks. I'm trying to learn. Not be talked down to.

If you can't take the constructive criticism, then you can be my guest and leave.

We are a community trying to help one another, and that's all we've been doing this whole time.

Not at all, dude. It isn't called constructive when people are snide instead of helpful. That's all I'm saying. All you had to say was you got some bad information. Not oh you're uneducated. It's not necessary and certainly isn't helpful.

Whose remarks are you referring to, specifically?

We are certainly trying help. There is so much to learn and we all have to start somewhere. I am just now getting more of a hold on grading from pictures but, I'm far from an expert.

Edit: I say "dude".

Crazyb0 or whatever. I'm not worried about it anymore, though. Just how some people are I guess.

I don't think you should take Craxyb0's comment as a snide remark, he really didn't intend you to take it in a negative way. He was just giving a good example showing how markets work, since you asked about price guides.

The thing I have against just about all price guides is that they give you a single price. They should give bid and ask prices. I like ebay sold prices better, since that shows an actual trade, but the problem is they (usually) represent only one trade. That single trade might be an uniformed buyer coming together with an overpriced seller that's just fishing, so you have to still be a bit careful.
