In all honesty no one that has to ask what they need to be looking for to authenticate something should be shelling out "pretty serious cash" on a raw coin.

I most typically stick with Eagles, Pandas, and just plain silver. I've been experienced in American silver coins of varying dates, just never been one for Morgan's. Been thinking of getting into them for a little while, and this seemed like a good one to start with in all actuality. Yet I do respect your opinion.

and yes, tread lightly.
For purchases of that nature I would stay with an experienced seller,
local coin shop or a coin show.

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. You get what you pay for.

It's weight is dead on, as well as being exactly 1.5 inches. Mint mark and reeding are greatly appropriate. I wouldn't have bought it if any red flags with any of those things went off. I appreciate all of your help, you've been awesome and very supportive. Any remarks as to condition?

64 if flashy luster. Pictures are not good enough to render a verdict. Nice clean cheek though.

At least it looks real.

It looks real to me.

Are you going to get it graded? If so, let us know how it grades.
