Yeah, usually these are relatives unloading collections, they see a 10% profit over face as a good deal, sometimes I pity them, most often...not!

My idgit progeny would consider $10 as double face value a good deal of profit on my Roosie rolls!

I've noticed many of these go for under melt value.

Usually with mis-listings, wrong category or misspelling - like LIBER(T)Y instead of LIBERTY, so no one sees it for a while.
As above, if you live on 'new listings' all day you'll score, but I doubt you can make a living.
Some live on new listings to find those white whales out there (and check on-line coin shops all day). It's like crack, but not illegal (-;

I did buy a group of Jefferson nickels once for 7 cents each and pulled out 9 rolls of silver nickels out of the group.

As previously mentioned, these deals are out there occasionally, but not very often. I have scored more than a few times. My latest little pick up was 6 Kennedy 90% for $10 shipped. A couple of years ago I snagged a roll of Morgans for $100 shipped. One time I got a bunch of Franklin mint silver from the same guy cheap. This set was the best deal ( 15.3 ounces of sterling for $20 shipped)

This set I got for $35.80 shipped (yes that's gold) when melt value was a little over $400.

uncommon but it can happen! Just keep at it! For me I visit a pawn shop locally and get 90% silver at 10x per face value, its not a AMAZING deal but its still really good

Yup, I was on the other end of this. I posted 14 1930-40 Canadian 50 cents. in circulated condition starting at .99 no reserve. I didn't pay attention to the end of the auction and someone scooped up all 14 coins for .99.

That was my first attempt at selling on ebay and I haven't done it again.

So are you saying if you had paid attention you would have ended your listing?

I heard from others, that's what is done.

At that time probably not, I wouldn't have known how to do it.

If you do sell on ebay and it doesn't sell for what you want, especially for 99 cents...there's nothing forcing you to ship it out.

Just picked up a 1957 star silver certificate for $0.99, does that count?

Not silver, but I did score a lot of 3 1960 UK crowns for $4 last October, and I believe that included shipping as well. At a little more than one million pieces, these were the lowest mintage of the pre-1990 Elizabeth II crowns.

@Groszy The buyer had already sent the money and it was my first item sold I wanted the positive feedback. Funny thing, the person never left a feedback even after I left a positive one for them.

That's a good deal, hcmusicguy! Those were selling for around four pounds sterling each over here in Uncirculated back in the late 1960s.
