I took this to my friend in town and had him look at it. He told me if you were truly coin guys you would see this unfold in your head. Quadruple stamped coin with smear trails. Rotated the way of the arrow on the bottom but stayed vertical in the press. It might have been the coin that was stuck in the collar as the press stopped? The arrows point to what is the bottom left corner of the monument. :)

This is 100% without a doubt post strike damage.

It sounds like you're trying to describe a stutter strike: http://www.error-ref.com/stutterstrike-a/

or possibly a skidding coin error: http://www.error-ref.com/skidding-coin-errors/

Neither of which present on your coin, an in collar double strike would also not look anything like this, it would look more like this: https://coins.ha.com/itm/errors/191...1261-17700.s

notice how you can clearly make out multiple distinct devices? two eyes, two chins, two sets of legs on the buffalo, two sets of letters on the periphery, etc. this is not evident on your coin.

It's PMD.

I see a 1975 Pinto doing a burnout in a parking lot and poor Abe was under the tire. That's what I see unfolding in my head!

I hate to say this, but unfortunately, your friend is 100 percent incorrect, and has fed you false information. Your friend needs to do a lot of research on coins. This coin was damaged outside of the U.S. Mint, and it's 100 percent Post Strike Damage. It can be safely put back into circulation. That's the end of the story. Please listen to us. We're correct. Don't listen to your friend.

I got yelled at for not taking better pictures, and using proper lighting. So I apologize. I invested in a macro lens. Here ya go gentlemen... Lincoln's second, third, and fourth ears. ;) And proof I'm not crazy. Lol.

cuzimcute, you are doing the right think by asking questions and posting various pictures.everyone is trying to help and provide you with the best information and unfortunately this is not what you and your friend want it to be! imagining and the reality are Two different things. , this coin has been driven over in a parking lot and has been scraped and damaged, just throw it back in the circulation and move on!you will find a good one sooner rather than later.

Sorry, I don't see where you were "yelled at."

We are. It's just that your friend doesn't know much about coins and the minting process. It is 100% Post Mint Damage. ( PMD)

This topic has run it's course. I see the OP just posting more images and we will keep telling him it's damage.

If your friend is so sure have him fork out the dough to send it to PCGS and you'll split the profit with him on this rare quadruple stamped coin with smear trails. It would be a no lose situation for him if he's right.

When you get the coin back from PCGS, take a photo of the slab to post here. Use the contact form to let me know you have it and I'll unlock the topic for you.
