PERFECT!

Don't do anything else.

Personally, I would slab the coin. Very likely, will come back in a details slab because of the scratch on the leg of the eagle.

But, don't let anybody kid you......every single person that posted and/or read this thread, would be SMILING EAR TO EAR if they found this coin.

Congratulations!!

Acloco, thanks, couldn't really see the scratch before the acetone,
I was grinning like crazy when I found it!

I think it will come back in a no problem slab. Seen coins with bigger issues in no problem slabs. Compare with this one.

Very nice, and I would keep that coin forever if it was me, as it is a find of a lifetime (mintage 208K!).
Check ebay with a search like "1921 D half dollar details". You will get an idea of its value.

Wonderful coin and wonderful results!

Should easily slab VF details at a minimum.

Congrats!

coin has great patina and has a good chance of getting a straight grade as others have indicated. I am at vf30.

numismatic student, thanks , I'm hesitant to send it in, I took it to a coin shop while on vacation in Florida. I was offered 200$ for it, and if I hadn't rubbed the mint mark he said 400$. I'm curious what his thinking was on the offer

that the dealer wanted to pay as little as possible... this is the kind of coin that needs to wait for the right buyer.

I was really looking for an appraisal, he seemed interested only in an offer...It's going to stay in my collection...

The Acetone made it look a lot better , too bad about the scratches . I would be happy to have this coin in my WLH collection .

It's a good lesson for you. As anxious as a digger is to look at that coin he just dug up, he needs to wait and soak it. Rubbing kills the value every time. Seen it over and over here.
