It looks like it possibly might be something good need way better pics. The devices aren't mirrored so that is a plus.

With all the colors on it, it yells to be altered. If it were real, the value would be greatly reduced because of the colors. Need wider images to show what is there. It maybe real or a garage job with a soft die. Just can't guess from the images provided.

If you could get better pictures of both sides, that would be great. We'll need a picture of the full obverse side, and a full picture of the reverse side.

Even quarter size images (4 per side) so we can see what is going on. The bigger the better.

Thank you both, for your comments.

The coin is very difficult to photograph. The entire coin appears to have lamination problems.

Both Lincoln Memorials appear to be raised. The more horizontal of the two, (in the last photo), appears to be printed on top of the more vertical of the two.

I have tried all I can to get better photos. I will have to borrow a much better camera, and see if that helps.

Rest in Peace

Give it a soak in acetone to get that blue paint off.

I don't know if this helps, but I was able to get a slightly better photo. In the photo, the upside-down letters, "TY" appear on Lincoln's forehead:

Imagine the obverse divided into 4 quarters with 4 images. That way we can see the rim area and if needed put the 4 together to make an extra large image. You getting there though.

Based on the OP's pics and description so far, can we rule out a vise job and remnant glue?

But a soft die could have been used. Better images would help us to see if this is the case or not? The best way to tell is to see if the anomoly is a match that would have been transferred from a double strike? If the alignment matches a double strike on both sides he may have something. But I doubt if that is the case with all the other colors on the coin. People just don't color a true error coin. People trying to cover over a fake/altered coin would. And what do they do with an altered coin that the figure out is going to fool any one? The spent it. People find it and ask here. So better images will help to tell what the coin really is.

Here are some photos taken 1/4 of the obverse at at time:

Lincoln-Cent---What-Is-The-Nature-Of-This-Beast?
Lincoln-Cent---What-Is-The-Nature-Of-This-Beast?

I also took a closer photo of the bottom of the coin, by Lincoln's shoulder. There you can see some writing and also what looks to me like two or three ends of Lincoln's shoulder:

Lincoln-Cent---What-Is-The-Nature-Of-This-Beast?

This last photo is a shot of the date, but also one can see writing going down to the date, and almost perpendicular to the date:

I am still trying to find a better camera, and will upload better quality photos A.S.A.P.

Any/all thoughts and comments would be appreciated.

Thank you.

To me I looks like it could possibly have the same angle on both obverse and reverse by looking at where WE is on obverse and top of memorial is on reverse.

Nice find! Tough to figure out though. Overlay helped me. (Not an overlay for the reverse, but a rotation of the obverse. Not exact, but shows me what I needed to see)

Dear Coop:

Thank you for your comments and the effort that you have put into this.

I am planning on getting some acetate, in hopes that the acetate will get enough gunk off of the coin to allow for a decent photo. If that is the case, I will add the photos.

With kind regards,

Kevan

Now you see why I needed the quarters of the obverse. I had a suspicion I needed to confirm or prove wrong. But this one is a keeper.
