I hope the photo is large enough. I numbered three levels in your last photo. Rinse the acetone off and pat dry.

Dr. Don; I've added an ultraviolet photo of the area. It shows the one spot where the edge of the wheat has been pushed down. But the ultraviolet shows that most joining areas on either side of the crack are level. Mikes observation suggesting etching stated that if etched there would be many obvious levels where the etching took place. That just doesn't show in the photo. Dan

John1; Here is all the info listed on the box, and the wish website. HD Color CMOS sensor, high speed Dsp (Driver Free available.) 24 bit DSP, Optimum resolution 2590 X 1944, 5X Digital Zoom. On the Website it has this but not much of importance. Dan

Thanks Dan. Did you or are you going to give the coin an acetone soak? John1

Yes I soaked the coin in Acetone for one hour. It removed some dirt but not really anything that changes the appearance of the defects. I guess it's just a nothing burger.

O.K. Finally ,made some progress identifying the coins error. I have found one example of What is called <Major Lamination. This occurs at the Mint. I have added 2 photos to show the example. This is EXACTLY what I have except the degree on my coin is much more widespread over the entire Reverse of the coin. Dan

Just using it as an example. However it is the same error, no doubt in my mind. I've found more examples but none as widespread across the Reverse of the coin, as in my example. I agree John, Way overpriced. I wouldn't offer a penny over $2500.00 for it. Dan

Thanks everyone, I really enjoyed the exchange of ideas. In the course of the past 58 years, I have examined probably 30,000 wheat pennies, I have personally never found anything even near what this one looks like.

Hi Dan. I just wanted to say "hi" from Hemet!
I know I have one just like this that I stashed away to figure out later. I should dig it out.

Please post some photos of your coin. You're in Hemet, that's just a hop away. Maybe we can meet up sometime and share a lunch.
Dan

I need to find it. I have a huge stack that I put aside to be scoped later. I'm cleaning it up a bit today. Lunch would be fun. It would be nice to get a second opinion on some of the coins I have & see what you have. I have some really crazy ones.
