I was on the fence with this one before I bought it. I posted this hoping for some quick responses to shed light on something I might not have seen or to confirm my thoughts. After the first few comments I decided let it go and not purchase the coin, the risk wasn't worth it. The next day when I saw other opinions, which were closer to my thoughts, I decided to buy the coin if it was still available. So Thank You everyone who posted a comment, it helped me make the decision.

Now.. My thoughts of the coin before buying.
I thought that this coin would grade between AU55 and AU58 and possible MS but no luster.

My thoughts after the coin in hand..
This coin still looks the same as I originally thought but there could be problems. I tried to get good pictures but the seller pics and mine do not show what I see under a scope/loupe.

The only concern would be what looks like parallel hairlines in the field between liberty's head and cap on the first set of pictures.

Yes, there are a few hairlines there and looks like a very very light rub. Also next to Liberty's right arm it looks like there could be some light damage or ED.
Overall If I got lucky then MS61 - MS62 but I would probably say it is MS Details, or AU Details by today's TPG's standards.

MS62 no question in my eyes. Unless they detail it for env damage randomly which I cant see any reason why they would...but you know how tpgs are

Best way to determine ED is to tilt the coin under a lamp and look at it under magnification. If the area in question looks like a depression in the coin's surface and appears as if something has eaten into it, then there's a good chance it's indeed ED. If the area is raised like it's gunk buildup, it's probably just the typical crust that original coins often exhibit.

I wonder if this coin might benefit from professional conservation. It does appear to be mint state and if a thick patina is muting the luster perhaps a very light "dipping" treatment would bring it back to life.

As is I like it at the price you paid.

Are there surface pits not revealed in the pics?

As expected they ED'd it for no reason I could see. I'm subbing one to NGC that looks identical to yours. Maybe yours will benefit from an acetone soak or NGC conservation

Just what I said before, next to Liberty's right arm it looks like there could be some light damage or ED but I don't think it should be a details for that! I think I will just hold onto it for a while and maybe in a few years send it to NGC.

The True View enlargement does show possible cleaning and a disturbed area under the right (facing) arm. The whole right obverse field doesn't look quite natural as I study it.
