I took this angle with my cell camera. I probably could use one of those macro apps on the cell to help get in tighter for higher res. Under 5x loupe, it looks legit.  |

I've been so much into Mint State coins over the last 2 years, I'm not sure what you all do with circulated coins. Do you send them in for grading to be slabbed by one of the TPGs? I know in a few days this coin goes back to my father for his safe keeping. I guess I can wait about 5 years and I'll probably own it -- I mean the guy is 80 years old. Can't live forever.

That is a nice find and probably should be sent to PCGS. Just so you know,you can buy a clip on magnifier for your smartphone pretty cheap on the bay. John1  |

XF40. I agree this should be sent in. your lighting is too intense and washing out the surfaces so determining if the coin was cleaned at some point is not easy. would love to see photos in natural light to see the surfaces. could be in the $500+ range if it wasn't cleaned. the scratches over the date probably are not bad enough to details it but a little distracting as its the first place collectors look at on this coin

How did the 2 over 1 thing happen at the mint? Did they have a 41 Die in good shape and just stamped a 2 in it to stamp more dimes?
