if that makes sense. So to me, the grade isn't so important

No, it doesn't make sense. If the grade isn't important, why are you asking us? Unless it's a 67, 68 or 69 and you want to break it out and re-submit it, I wouldN'T worry about it. It's a nice coin.

For example, I've seen a good amount of AU-58 coins that look much nicer (and I'd rather own) than low-MS examples. Same with UNC coins to an extent. The grade is not always indicative of eye appeal, location of the hits, and sharpness of the coin, as well as other factors like NS kindly pointed out. Plus even top-end grading services have a little bit of variance.
I don't plan on cracking and resubmitting, but I still like to hear your guys' opinions of the coin as a whole. All opinions matter, especially when I'm choosing one for my type set.

Okay guys, I get it. I guess I was just reading to much into the conversation. Most folks just say please grade the coin or grade the grader, period. The coin is a Mint State FSB something (IMO). I can't tell the difference between a 64 and a 67 anyway. Still a nice coin! !

P.S. Yes, buy the coin, not the slab.

well struck up. some flow lines due to later state die. the only minor flaw I see is the tiny nick on the center crossbar. MS67/68 range. nice coin for type set

Hits on the A in America and on the cheek aren't visible at 20x magnification. Only a shadow and a wee bit of discoloration, but I don't see hits. Sorry for the misleading pics.
Here's some crappy example photos of those areas.

I think those are metallic flow lines, as it doesn't show up as a hit even under 20x magnification.
Here's another crappy picture, sorry for the deceptive first ones.
Appears to be a tiny hit on the mintmark and on the bands though.

Its a FAKE coin,The tilt on the D mint mark is wrong It should have more of a tilt in to the branch, I see staining on the out side of rim from the Obverse to the Reverse and some discoloring around the D in Dime and a couple spots on the coin also a couple nicks. They hit it with a MS65 right?

No Dave, I believe this one is correctly graded at MS-67+ FB
I could also see MS-68, but that's just my opinion.
Rest in Peace

MS-68 FSB , If you took away those micro little issues I believe we would be looking at an unheard of MS-69 FSB .
