Yep. Rx--tabula rasa, via sledge hammer or otherwise. If I can imagine an interesting use for these accumulating eye-sores, perhaps there will be a new generation of "hobo" coins, or maybe a clever series of overstamped (dare I suggest)--"Hard Times Dollars" with wry sayings like B.Franklin's famous quips? Since "Necessity is the mother of invention", I expect some good ideas to be forthcoming.

Be gentle, Kurt! Just because those Presidential dollars "have a face that only a mother can love" (or in this case, the designer, maybe), does not mean you have to get all violent against them! Where's the love?

My apologies, hehe. Course, if Ben Franklin or G.Washington were around today, I'm sure they would have some gentle words of inspiration that could be applied here.

Not suggesting polemics here...let's "hang together", as Ben would say.

I'm pretty sure the designers don't like the look of it either. They probably did for the $$$.

If they were here today, I am sure there is more than one enduring issue that would be quickly and properly resolved.

One might say they did it for the Benjamins...

Isn't it really interesting to imagine though, what a B. Franklin Presidency would have looked like, and/or accomplished ?
How it might have changed our history with certain decisions, etc., etc.....?
It's the person who doesn't want to be President, or on any of the currency, that I would "more" want to have the job !.....
The person who takes the job grudgingly because he/she is "pressed to do it"....or the country begs/needs his or her leadership...
One who provides the leadership because it serves a cause greater than their own self interests.......

I'm not a big fan of after market enhancing of coins, but some of the official Perth Mint stuff is nice.

Enhanced coins need to be shunned by true circulated coin collectors. Otherwise there will be a plethora of endless products. To collect a series will cost a fortune, endlessly.A mature collector understands the difference between real coins and 'mint product'. On the other hand if the product catches the interest of someone or someones child it might succeed in igniting new interest in the hobby.New collectors are the lifeblood of the collecting world. It's becoming a whole new world, coin collecting for a beginner is a much quicker learning curve, because of sites like this . If they learn the difference in collecting circulated vs mint products we may gain new collectors.

Ever heard of enameled coins? That's all I have come across with regards to British coins and I am against it. How can you possibly 'enhance' something which is by definition perfect? Coins are coins but not after they have been altered. You can guess which way I voted.

I have seen the hologram coins before but never really asked. If you put the coin in circulation how soon would the hologram wear off?.. Anyone every destroyed their hologram coin just to see how much it would take? God I know thats a bad question to ask collectors..lol we touch our coins like babies :)

I voted BAD but I dislike the new Jefferson nickel designs so much that the colorized ones actually make them look better.
Still a coin is a coin and the colorized ones are well ... something else.
