We all wish you luck, though I still think you're imagining something that isn't there. Hope I'm wrong!

Coinfrog, that's why I'm sending it off, my old eyes aren't that good. I am not trying to fool myself and have my hopes through the roof because I just don't believe something like this can happen this far removed from being minted.

Just playing devils advocate. If you are on the fence, a positive outcome will be great. I also hope it's genuine.

Actually Dan, I truly think the answer will be either inconclusive or no.

Hard to believe this would bring big money even with a tentative nod from Dr. Wiles. The grading services might be reluctant to slab it because of the potential liability.

Thanks Tunnioc. My eyes are not to be trusted and I don't have the equipment or knowledge to absolutely identify this thing.

I sent pics to Dr. James Wiles and he emailed me back last night. He told me to weigh the cent (which I already had), 3.09 gms and check the design against other 1943 cents, I've done that as well. He said that because it was grease filled there wasn't much that he could do. I think Coinfrog hit it on the head that even if he did attribute it the TPG would probably not slab it from the standpoint of liability. So I have a very interesting cent and a pretty good conversation piece.

I can't see any traces of a fourth digit. I highly doubt it's a 43, but if you do send it to Wiles let us know the results.
